Dear WSG members and Student Life Advisors:

Here’s what’s happening:

  • Sunday evening, Feb. 21 – everyone gets together in the hospitality room at 4 p.m.,  you get your seminar packet and have some snacks, meet other students, chat and plan your evening in Madison.  If you are the Governor or Lt. Governor (others are welcome, too), you will attend a WSG meeting to make decisions for the future of WSG.  After that, it can be a walk down State Street to enjoy the night life and stop for dinner at a restaurant along the way!   Or, you can have a relaxing evening in the pool at the Madison Concourse Hotel!
  • Monday morning, Feb. 22 – you get a great breakfast and then get to hear from key technical college and legislative leaders on legislation that affects you as a student or what will impact the future of technical education!  You will also learn what changes might impact your financial funding or transferability of credits!  You want to be a part of this so that you have something to say about what happens and so that you can talk to your legislators on Tuesday!
  • Monday afternoon, Feb. 22 – you will attend breakout sessions to learn more about how to go to the capitol and talk with your legislators to promote your needs, the needs of your technical college and “YOU” are the voice for WSG and all the 450,000 technical college students throughout the state!
  • On Monday, you also get a chance to meet more students, make new friends, visit the booths set up by other technical colleges and learn about student life activities at other colleges.   Usually, there is lots of “neat, free stuff from the technical colleges” that you can take back home with you!  A great lunch buffet is also provided for everyone!
  • Monday evening, Feb. 22 – you attend a dinner banquet (you can dress up or go casual) with a tasty dinner provided along with dessert!  After dinner, a silent auction takes place with items donated by each of the technical colleges from t-shirts, sweatshirts, caps, college classroom supplies and more, which you can bid on! Next, entertainment is provided which usually concludes around 10 p.m.  In between or after the evening’s events, you can enjoy more of Madison’s night life, go for a dip in the pool, or just hang out with friends.
  • Tuesday morning, Feb. 23  -- starts out with breakfast at the hotel followed by your visit to the Capitol to talk to your legislators to “tell your story” and voice the position of WSG on technical college and student legislation.  Don’t forget to take your camera and get some great photos of yourself in the Capitol!

Attached is the Seminar registration form as well as details about hotel room reservations.

If you have questions, don’t hesitate to contact me.

Thanks.
